| Type species: Pulvinularia suecica Borzi 1916. - Monotypic genus. |
Descriptions:
Komárek (1992):Thallous; thallus microscopic, attached to the substrate, composed from more or less circular, discoidal, basal layer of cells with nematoparenchymatous arrangement of radially oriented, laterally confluent filaments, later slightly hemispherical; from the basal disc grow parallely and radially oriented filaments with laterally confluent sheaths. Trichomes uniserial or biserial in short segments, pseudodichotomously divaricated at the ends (branching of V-type). Sheaths more or less thick, homogeneous or indistinctly layered, colourless or yellowish, confluent. Cells rounded-irregular, blue-green. Heterocytes interca1ar, solitary. Akinetes not observed.

Reproduction strategies, life cycles, cell division:
Komárek (1992): Reproduction by hormogonia, which develop from the apical ends of radially arranged filaments. The cells divide in young germinating hormogonia in different planes (origin of basal disc).

Ecology, ecophysiology, ecological significance:
Komárek (1992): The epiphytic type-species was described from water mosses (Fontinalis) in-littoral of one lake in Sweden.
