Hindák (2002): Cellulae in colonias aggregatae, raro solitariae vel binae. Coloniae microscopicae, libere natantes, cum cellulis solitaris, sine tegumentis gelatinosis communibus. Cellulae cyanoprocaryoticae, sine aerotopis (pseudovacuolis), muco hyalino tectae. Mucus cellulae bilamelosus. Divisio cellularum in partes duas. Reproductio desintegratione coloniarum.

Descriptions:
Hindák (2002; for type species): Cells rarely solitary or in couples, mostly in random groups, forming irregular dense expanded aggregations. Colonies microscopic, free, irregular, to 100 um in diameter, composed of joined solitary cells, not covered by common mucilaginous envelopes.
Cells cyanoprokaryotic, spherical, (0.8)-1-1.8 μm in diameter, blue-green to pale blue-green in colour; aerotopes (pseudovacuoles) missing. Mucilage of cells wide, firm, spherical, hyaline, 4-6 μm wide, bilamellate, composed of an inner light spherical part and an outer darker part with a distinct margin.
