Type species: Mastigocoleopsis obtusa (Carter) Geitler 1925
|
Descriptions:
Komárek (1992): Thallous; thallus in a form of thin mats, composed from free, irregularly coiled filaments. Filaments with thick, firm, homogeneous or layered, diverging, colourless, sometimes transversally constricted sheaths. Trichomes uniserial with isodiametrical and more or less long, cylindrical cells with blue-green content, constricted at cross-walls. True branching common, lateral, of T- and v-type; branches long, continually tapering to the ends (but not forming terminal hairs; the hair-like ends are thin rests of empty sheaths ?), or short, cylindrical. Heterocytes and akinetes not known.
