| Type species: Heterocyanococcus haumanii Kufferath 1929. - Monospecific genus. |
Descriptions:
Komárek (1992): Thallous; thallus in form of small, simple, three-dimensional, tetrahedral, cubic or iregular, packet-like clusters of densely and irregularly gathered cells of indefinite size, microscopic; cells sometimes arranged in short rows, without enveloping common mucilage. Cells irregular, subspherical, flattened at sides connected with neighbouring cells, with blue-green, slightly granular content. Around cells firm, thin, not gelatinizing and not stratified colourless sheaths. Heterocytes subspherical or hemispherical, developing at sides (marginally) of cell clusters. Akinetes not observed.
